Edited again on 5/31/2026: I recently updated my review and kept my rating at a five. A recent trip to a new vet has changed my perspective on my experience with Elmore. I adopted the stray mentioned in the original review, and we’ve been doing well for just over three years. In that time, I’ve taken her to Elmore 13 times, typically per their recommendation/request, others because we had a concern. Since she’s eleven, and I’ve never had a senior cat, I thought seeing the vet 4+ times in a year was a bit much, but understandable. I should have asked around for a second opinion. Elmore frequently suggested very expensive lab work nearly every three to six months without fail. If there was an issue or concern, medication felt like one of their first suggestions. We were given a powder for a possible food allergy which wasn’t too expensive. But right before we left they strongly encouraged we put our cat on a prohibitively expensive diet and monthly pain medicine. The other vet we went to pointed out how minor the issue was that would have required either of those, and monitoring and slight routine adjustments may be just as effective. I can’t say all of their advice was bad or made with business intent before the health of the animal. I don’t know that. I can only say for sure that over the last three years, we went there quite a few times, and nearly every time it was expensive, and almost always more expensive than the rough estimate we started requesting over the phone. I know it can’t be exact, but sometimes the total was $100+ more. The current vet doesn’t believe we need to come in any more than once, or MAYBE twice in a year. We’re keeping her on the powder medication for the food allergy. But all of the other tests, needless medicines and expensive exams are behind us unless they’re NEEDED. To reiterate: The staff was always friendly and treated my cat well. But their business practices should have raised more red flags than I realized during my time there. Most of the previous edit: At my last appointment there were sadly two emergencies that added considerably to our wait, which didn't bother me. I was fine waiting. Sadly, neither made it. They lit a candle in their honor, and several family members came by to say their goodbyes. The people who work there truly are angels. While we're in a new location and won't go here anymore, we're grateful for the services they provided and the grace with which they did their jobs. Original review: A stray followed me home. They welcomed a walk in to see if the cat was micro-chipped. They gave me the chip number, but due to law, couldn't give me any other info. I then had a follow up appointment to check the cats health. She was very scared, so they swaddled her and gave her the shots and care she needed. They even offered to trim her claws for us. They are very kind people and worked well with our little foster feline.
